Part two of our (potentially) ongoing series ‘That Kid Totally Looks Like…’
Netflix have pulled another one out of the bag. After casting Rowland S Howard doppleganger Finn Wolfhard in ‘Stranger Things’ they have returned to the ‘uncanny resemblance to post-punk icon’ well for their new coming of age series ‘The End of the F**king World’ and this time they’re not dicking around.
Starring as angst-laden protagonist, potential psychopath and 50% of the show’s dynamic leading duo “James” , Alex Lawther bears more than a passing resemblance to a young Robert Smith of The Cure in their original three (imaginary boys) piece incarnation.
You can totally see it, right?
Perennially glum and bewildered of countenance one can absolutely picture him sitting in the kitchen sink as the tap drips drip, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip. Or possibly losing his heart to a meathook and reading Camus on the school bus. Maybe he tucks his pants into his socks “to keep the rats out” too.
Presumably in the second season he’ll fall in with a group of ne’er-do-wells from Bromley and start wearing too much lipstsick before redefining pop music for a generation.
We shall see.
‘The End of the F**king World is currently the best show on Netflix.
The Cure are currently celebrating their 40th anniversary.
